Young Leaders Fund
Building New Leadership in Philanthropy
Young Leaders Fund (YLF) provides young professionals with an innovative way to make a difference. YLF empowers its donors to manage the grant making process. With support from the Trust, they research innovative grassroots organizations, conduct site visits, interview staff and evaluate grant requests. As a result, members become more effective volunteers and more knowledgeable civic leaders.
Over the past 25 years, YLF has awarded more than $1 million in grants to more than 250 nonprofits serving neighborhoods across the city. From band classes for students in East Garfield Park, to launching a women’s culinary workforce development program at the Cook County Correctional Center to upgrading computers for an after-school program in West Woodlawn, YLF has paved the way for small nonprofits and the next generation of philanthropists.
Young Leaders Fund focuses its grants on small, start-up nonprofits serving communities in Chicago in Arts and Culture, Community and Economic Development and Child Development and Education.
In 2020, Young Leaders Fund is celebrating its 25th anniversary and the change the fund has made for small nonprofits in Chicago. In honor of the YLF anniversary, the Trust will match donations made to the YLF endowment fund dollar-for-dollar, up to $25k. Your support and contribution will help grow our communities and enable us to continue offering philanthropic opportunities to Chicago’s young professionals.
Membership in Young Leaders Fund repays your donation with a deep knowledge of community improvement. Make your donation online using a credit card, or download and complete the YLF enrollment form and pledge card.
