We at The Chicago Community Trust stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and their commitment to live in a safe and free democratic nation. In the wake of Russia’s invasion, millions of men, women, and children have been impacted by escalating violence—losing their homes, their security, and even their lives. Nearly three million people have fled Ukraine, while many more in the country are in urgent need of shelter, medical services, and aid to meet their basic needs.
We are inspired by the generosity of our donors and partners in responding to this crisis. If you are seeking ways to support humanitarian aid for those whose lives have been disrupted by the conflict, consider donating to the following organizations:
CARE Ukraine Emergency Fund is providing food, water, hygiene kits, psychosocial support, and cash assistance—prioritizing women and girls, families, and the elderly.
Jewish United Fund – on the ground partners including American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC), Jewish Agency for Israel, and World ORT have shifted into emergency mode and are working around the clock to provide uninterrupted humanitarian aid to Jews in need and standing at the ready to respond as new needs emerge.
Save the Children is on the ground helping deliver lifesaving aid to children in Ukraine who currently are at high risk of physical harm, emotional distress, and displacement.
UNICEF is working with partners to reach vulnerable children and families with essential services – including health, education, protection, water and sanitation – as well as life-saving supplies.
United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is preparing to increase operational capacity to deliver life-saving sexual and reproductive health services and supplies. They are also working with neighboring countries to respond to the immediate sexual and reproductive health needs of refugees including women and girls and vulnerable groups such as older persons.
World Central Kitchen provides meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises. It is supporting restaurants in Ukraine and providing hot meals at Polish border crossings to refugees
You may also wish to support the Trust’s Unity Fund, which serves as a vehicle for addressing our region’s most urgent needs. The Unity Fund supports a number of local organizations helping individuals and families who are resettled in the Chicago area from global conflict zones to rebuild their lives.
