Chicago-Area Fair Housing Alliance (CAFHA) is a membership-based nonprofit working to combat housing discrimination and promote equitable place-based opportunity through education, advocacy, and collaborative action. CAFHA’s work centers on repairing the ongoing impacts of historic, government-sponsored housing discrimination and wealth stripping in Black and Latinx communities by organizing impacted communities and advocating for housing policies and programs that advance restitution. CAFHA leads the Housing Choice Voucher Working Group and researches national best practices regarding public housing authority homeownership programs, local program success and constraints, and advocates with voucher holders to expand and improve homeownership programs.
