On Chicago’s South Side, behind a small law office, sits Celtic Boxing Club. Mike Joyce, an attorney by day and boxing instructor by night, started the club over two decades ago. With the help of volunteers, Mike gives free boxing lessons to anyone who is willing to show up and work hard.

A former prizefighter, Mike started coaching initially to shed some pounds; but today he continues in order to be part of the tradition of giving that runs deep in boxing. And he should know—Mike is married to Jamillah Ali, the daughter of boxing legend Muhammad Ali.
