Lilly Athamanah is the digital communications specialist for The Chicago Community Trust, where she manages the strategy and implementation of the foundation’s digital and creative assets.
Prior to joining the Trust’s strategic communications team in 2020, Lilly served as Corporate Communications Specialist for Vivid Seats, a Chicago tech company, as well as Communications Specialist for The Joyce Foundation. An experienced communications professional, Lilly is skilled in digital strategy, corporate social responsibility, internal/external communications in both strategic and crisis-related situations, project management, issues research, and media relations.
Lilly was previously a public affairs trainee at Kivvit, a strategic communications firm headquartered in Chicago. She worked with clients on public affairs initiatives across a variety of sectors including education, government, business, not-for-profit, and culture. Lilly was also a senior press and communications intern for the Office of Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
During her spare time, she volunteers as a writing and career coach for The Posse Foundation’s Chicago chapter. Lilly is a founding member of Navy Pier’s Associate Board and member of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy (AAPIP). She was formerly a Next Chapter Associate at the Newberry Library and member of the Asian Giving Circle (AGC).
A Chicago native and Posse Scholar, Lilly graduated from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. She holds a bachelor’s degree in American Studies.
