Kaushalya S. Arachchi is a program specialist for the Illinois Justice Project (ILJP).
In this role, she supports adult reentry and juvenile justice initiatives through stakeholder engagement, policy research, project coordination, and convening partners across the public, nonprofit, and advocacy sectors.
Kaushalya is also a lawyer from Sri Lanka. Her work focuses on criminal justice reform, reentry, and creating opportunities for individuals and communities that have been excluded from systems of support.
Before moving to Chicago, Kaushalya practiced law and later worked in nonprofit leadership and human rights advocacy in Sri Lanka. She also worked as a news reporter covering politics and current affairs.
Kaushalya holds a Master of Public Policy from the University of Chicago, a Master of Laws from the University of Colombo, and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of London.
