The Chicago Community Trust Welcomes Two New Members to the Executive Committee

CHICAGO (January 15, 2026) – Two new members were elected to join The Chicago Community Trust’s governing board, the Executive Committee. Bruce McNamer, president of Builders Vision Philanthropy, and Gil C. Quiniones, president and CEO of ComEd, an Exelon company, joined as of January 1, 2026.

Chicago’s nonprofits are facing the challenge of doing more with less, while our most vulnerable communities continue to grapple with the effects of rising prices and other challenges. As the region’s community foundation, the Trust is committed to bringing Chicagoans together to address urgent needs and investing in lasting opportunities for all who call our region home.

The Executive Committee oversees asset management and guides the organization’s overall strategy and operations. Each member plays a vital role in shaping the organization’s mission and commitment to our region, not only for today but also to ensure the organization’s future sustainability. 

The two new members will provide valuable insights as they join a distinguished group of civic leaders committed to fostering a thriving region in partnership with our community of residents, donors and nonprofits. 

Bruce McNamer is the President of Builders Vision Philanthropy. Before joining Builders Vision, Bruce was President and CEO of the Greater Washington Community Foundation in Washington, DC; Head of Global Philanthropy for the JPMorgan Chase Foundation; and the President and CEO of TechnoServe. Bruce was also a White House Fellow at the National Economic Council and a Peace Corps Volunteer in Paraguay. He has a bachelor’s degree from Harvard and a JD/MBA from Stanford. 

Gil Quiniones is the President and CEO of ComEd, an Exelon company, which powers the lives of more than 9 million residents in Chicago and across most of northern Illinois. He is responsible for managing an electric grid that delivers safe, reliable electricity to customers and for empowering them to manage their energy use. Before joining ComEd, Quiniones served more than a decade as president and CEO of the New York Power Authority (NYPA), the nation’s largest state-owned electric utility. Prior to that, he held several positions in the administration of New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, including more than four years as senior vice president of energy and telecommunications. Since August 2022, Quinones has served on the President’s National Infrastructure Advisory Council, which advises the White House on how to reduce physical and cyber risks and improve the security and resilience of the nation’s critical infrastructure sectors. Quiniones received a bachelor’s degree from De La Salle University in the Philippines and has performed graduate coursework in engineering at the Stevens Institute of Technology. He has completed the Executive Education Program at Columbia Business School and the CEO Academy at The Wharton School. Quiniones earned the Corporate Director Certificate at Harvard Business School’s Executive Education program.

Additionally, the Trust’s Executive Committee welcomes a new chair and vice chair for a two-year term. Renetta McCann, a leading innovator and influential executive in the advertising and media industries, was elected as chair, and Ethan Meers, managing principal of Kinship Capital, will serve as vice chair. McCann and Meers have been members of the Executive Committee since January 2018 and January 2019, respectively, and assumed their new roles on January 1, 2026.

These appointments reflect the Trust’s commitment to effective governance as it brings together donors, nonprofits and residents to support people, organizations and partnerships that strengthen the Chicago region.
