As John F. Kennedy famously stated, “Ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country.”
Outside of the BBQs, parades and fireworks displays that will be taking place across the region this holiday weekend, Independence Day also offers us a chance to reflect on how we give back to the country and communities in which we live. Some people serve in the military or devote their lives to public service in government, some volunteer at their local school, church or hospital, and (hopefully) many cast their ballots as civic-minded citizens.
However you give—it truly matters. Have a happy and safe 4th of July!
