Devastating earthquakes that struck Turkey and Syria on February 6 have killed more than 45,000 people and left more than 380,000 people in the region homeless. Our hearts go out to those affected by this disaster. If you are seeking ways to support rescue and relief efforts, please consider donating to the following organizations:
CARE International: CARE is collaborating to deliver supplies to people in makeshift shelters across Turkey, including schools, mosques and other government-managed shelters. CARE will also continue its existing cross-border operations to respond to the worst affected areas in Northwest Syria, where on-the-ground teams and partners are working to deliver blankets, food, mattresses, tents, and other non-food items to people in need amid harsh weather conditions.
Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF): MSF teams in northwestern Syria began treating patients within the first hours of the first earthquake. MSF emergency teams are assessing the needs in the most affected areas of southern Turkey, officially renamed Türkiye.
MedGlobal: MedGlobal is providing critical support to partners for search and rescue efforts in Syria. It’s team is also distributing critical healthcare and humanitarian aid to the thousands affected by the devastating earthquakes.
UNICEF: UNICEF is on the ground responding to the needs of thousands of families and children impacted in Syria and Turkey.
ChildFund: ChildFund is working in northern Syria to distribute the essentials survivors need most right now, like mattresses, hygiene items and blankets to help protect children and families from the harsh winter conditions.
Karam Foundation: Chicago-based Karam Foundation, which supports Syrian refugees and families, is on the ground providing immediate aid to Syrian and Turkish communities impacted by the earthquakes.
