Amy J. Peña is general counsel to The Chicago Community Trust and Affiliates where she provides a wide range of legal guidance to the Trust ranging from board governance, nonprofit tax, donor advised funds, complex gift transaction, lobbying, trademarks and risk management.
Before joining the Trust, Peña was employed by the International Association of Lions Clubs, the world’s largest service club organization with more than 1.4 million members in more than 200 countries, where she served as general counsel and secretary and provided legal guidance on a wide variety of issues, including cross-border transactions, international dispute resolution, contract negotiations and employment matters. Prior to going in-house, she served as an associate attorney for Wessels &smp; Pautsch, P.C. and Andrews, Koehler and Passarelli, employer litigation firms. While in this role she represented employers, counseled clients and provided supervisory training on employment and labor law.
Peña earned her Juris Doctor degree from Northern Illinois College of Law. While in law school, she served as chief justice of the Moot Court Society and was recognized with several honors, including the elite Outstanding NIU Woman award. Peña graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Communication from Northern Arizona University.
