SAAPRI’s Democracy Project aligns with Asian Giving Circle’s mission as it seeks to build community power and representation among the South Asian American community. Our project recognizes the significance of providing a voice to underrepresented communities on matters of civic engagement. SAAPRI seeks to provide necessary tools, such as advocacy and engagement, to provide communities with opportunities to engage with their governing bodies to create a society that better represents their needs. SAAPRI's initiative will support the underrepresented South Asian American (SAA) community in Illinois through the redistricting process in 2021, raise voting rights awareness and encourage civic engagement.
