Creative Chicago Reuse Exchange
CCRx will provide 9 2-hour Creative Reuse Making activities for 3 parks between June 6 and June 26. The parks are Hermitage, Davis Square and Murray Park. Each park would have approx 20 children, ages 5 to 12, and the events will be promoted by park district staff. CCRx will provide materials and 1 or 2 teaching artists.

4900 W Race Ave Block Club
The 4900 W Race Ave Block Club would like to supplement our 2023 activities by adding an event for the youth in the month of June. We will use the funds to rent a gaming truck, mechanical bull, and purchase food and beverages for all to enjoy. We will host a friendly competition the gaming truck and will provide gift cards to the top 3 winners; $100 (first prize), $75 (second prize), $50 (third prize).

John Walt Foundation Inc
The John Walt Foundation (JWF) aims to provide summer programming via the JWF Summer Apprentices program, supporting youth between the ages of 14-24 who are interested in careers within the professional arts industry through a series of mentorship, learning, and real-life skills application. JWF will host a series of virtual and in-person workshops for JWF Apprentices on topics that include: resumes and job interviewing, artist relations, event safety, production management, promotion, experience/activations, developing person a need artist statements, emceeing or hosting events, and social media management. Apprentices will have an opportunity to learn from different generations and genres of artists with their community. Apprentices will utilize their learning to plan and launch three TIP Fest events (art/music festivals) throughout the year. As a culmination to their summer apprenticeship, JWF continues a long-standing partnership with Lollapalooza to offer Apprentices application of their learned skills by supporting in the preparation of the Lollapalooza festival on August 2nd.

Kells Park Community Council
Kells Park Community Council would like to visit Morton Elementary School to facilitate an official play day. We will block the streets, invite the police for protection, invite the Jessie White tumblers. An Invitation will be extended to the city officials . We will have an old-fashioned recess similar to those of yester year; where there will be lots of games, similar to the ones we once played. During this event we will be Inviting the teachers to play the games and show the students how to play them. Some examples of those games are jacks, 4 corners, marbles, hula hoops plus many more. We will offer the following snacks: hot dogs, chips, juice and ice cream. As the students play the games they will when prizes. We will invite the children’s parents. This event will be a large recess party on the school playgrounds. The event will be held at Morton Elementary School located at 431 North Troy, Chicago, Illinois. We will have to do this before the end of this school year term. Which is currently June 7th starting 10am. This will be a large school party. We will also invite the other local schools to participate, such as Westinghouse High School, and Polaris Charter School. These two schools are in close proximity to Morton. We would like the children’s last days of the school year to be enjoyable and memorable.

Peace Makers Worldwide
Peace Makers Worldwide (PMW) understands the importance of keeping Chicago youth safe, engaged, and empowered during the summer months. As an enhancement to its recently funded "A Peace of the Pie" Summer Action Program, Peace Makers Worldwide plans to provide a prep camp on June 10th, 17th, and 24th to get youth fully prepared and equipped for peace. By offering full day workshops and activities on the proposed dates, youth will engage in learning about Community Organizing, Peace Circles & Effective Communication with Peers, and Safety & Wound Care.

Alliance 98
The Alliance 98 is a grant recipient of the Department of Family Support Services award called Safe Spaces Little Village. Through this program, we’ve hired 15 paid interns (ages 16-24 years old) to host community events for their peers throughout the year called Kickbacks, with the majority of the events taking place over the summer months when schools are out and Chicago sees an uptick in violence. Throughout the summer, our interns will convene every week starting Monday, June 5 through August 25 to plan and host about ten Kickbacks and receive professional development training. Our interns have full creative control with the planning of their Kickbacks, and are tasked with creating activations that connect Chicago youth to out-of-school experiences, enabling them to connect, play, learn, and explore pathways to college and future careers. With support from this grant, our 15 interns are eager to organize and host about ten Kickbacks every Friday from June 16-August 25, which will include basketball and soccer tournaments, community clean-ups, school supplies distributions, free food, and opportunities to network with influential leaders and organizations across our city. Overall, our interns are striving to foster a more profound sense of community in Little Village, direct their peers to structured programming that propels their lives, and, most importantly, have fun.

Sacred Ground is currently providing Culinary Arts Training for CPS high school students. We would general end our after school Culinary Arts program on June 5, 2023. However we would like to extend the program if awarded the grant. Our Culinary Arts Program would continue through the gap period from June, 6, 2023 thru June 26, 2023. We have the staff and the capacity to extend the program through out the gap period.

DLD For Youth NFP
DLD will connect with action oriented nonprofit organizations, businesses and municipalities hosting Basketball Tournament twice a week for 2 hours. The funds will be used to provide meals , hygiene kits, incentives such as raffles and entertainment to keep the youth engaged with the program. DLD has connected with certified specialists, who will teach best practices through skills and drill techniques. The camp will take place during the gap period being June 6th with orientation and ending June 30th.
