    SPANISH COALITION FOR HOUSING

    Awarded: Awarded Amount: $80,000

    Spanish Coalition for Housing (SCH) aims to provide bilingual (English and Spanish) HUD certified housing counseling to support affordable and sustainable homeownership for low to moderate income households (Latinx and Black) across Chicago and Cook County Illinois through its Comprehensive Housing Counseling Program, (includes Homebuyer Education/Pre-purchase Counseling, Post Purchase/Foreclosure Prevention to existing and new homeowners and owner occupied two to four unit small landlords, supported by ongoing Financial Education and Coaching). SCH serves as a regional market conduit preparing households on their path to affordable and sustainable homeownership and wealth creation that includes increased access to affordable capital.

    Mujeres Latinas En Accion, Inc.

    Awarded: Awarded Amount: $72,500

    Mujeres is keenly aware of the disproportionate economic and health impact of COVID-19 on Latin@s. According to the City of Chicago’s COVID-19 dashboard, by March 31, 2021 out of 256,684 total positive cases, the Latinx population represented 34.3% of the positive cases, totaling 88,150 Latinx individuals and out 5,122 COVID19-related deaths, the Latinx population represented 33.3% (compared to 29.7% of the total population) 1,706. In Suburban Cook County, the Latin@ population has had a total of 45,058 cases. Through a combination of our virtual and in-person events, community canvasing, and phone calls, Mujeres will assure that immigrant community members have correct education on the vaccine and are supported in making appointments.

    CONNECTIONS FOR ABUSED WOMEN AND THEIR CHILDREN

    Awarded: Awarded Amount: $150,000

    CAWC is committed to reducing the negative violence has on Chicago families. CAWC’s services directly support children who have experienced domestic violence in their homes: CAWC provides trauma treatment services to children who reside at Greenhouse Shelter or are enrolled in the Humboldt Park Outreach Program (HPOP). These services are delivered by the Family Trauma Therapists. The Children's Advocate, housed at Greenhouse Shelter, provides individual and group counseling to children residing at the shelter as well as parenting groups and support to mothers of children residing at the Shelter. CAWC’s Art Therapist provides additional therapeutic services and teaches children to express and understand emotions through art.

    ERIE NEIGHBORHOOD HOUSE

    Awarded: Awarded Amount: $195,000

    Erie House respectfully requests funding to support our violence prevention and intervention efforts in Little Village, helping Latinx youth and families overcome the difficulties that result from experiencing violence and victimization. Our Proyecto Cuídate program is based out of South Lawndale and delivers much needed, quality mental health services that are trauma-informed, bilingual, and culturally competent, to the vulnerable and often victimized Latinx community in Little Village. This project will provide extensive case management services to Latinx youth and families as well as referrals linking them to other programs within Erie House, for example Legal Services, in order to provide a more holistic solution to beneficiary needs.

    NORTHWEST SIDE HOUSING CENTER

    Awarded: Awarded Amount: $65,000

    The Northwest Side Housing Center’s (NWSHC's) holistic financial wealth program focuses on building household wealth by improving the economic well-being of our community through an anti-racist, intergenerational, and community-led lens. We have learned, to best serve our community, we need comprehensive, integrated approaches that align resources to support households. Our current programmatic work serves over 5,000 families annually and has four established tenets: (1) holistic financial coaching for program participants, (2) leadership development opportunities for program participants, (3) inclusive workforce development services for participants, and (4) comprehensive income support services.

    Urban Market Exchange

    Awarded: Awarded Amount: $66,000

    The Urban Market Exchange, LLC (UME), is seeking a pre-development resource grant in order to assist us with several projects needed before we can start the necessary build-out of a light/flexible co-manufacturing workspace in the Woodlawn community, in an underserved community on Chicago’s Southside. The pre-development funds will go to all qualified pre-development fees such as consulting, Phase I ESA, architect fees, etc. This grant would allow UME to satisfy certain requirements needed in order to continue to apply and receive other grants and opportunities including financing. This facility will allow our clients to focus on building their business, customers-base, and exploring capital opportunities.

    Local Initiatives Support Corp.

    Awarded: Awarded Amount: $150,000

    LISC is submitting on behalf of One Chicago for All (1Chi4All), an alliance of 28 community-driven, social impact organizations representing voices of over 1 million residents towards the goal of a Chicago that is equitable, anti-racist and builds wealth for communities of color. 1Chi4All is seeking Project Specific $150,000 funding to define a community-led role in co-creating equitable funding distribution at the City/State and secure a commitment from banks to a new comprehensive model for community-led investment. Emerging leaders from community-led organizations will lead these campaigns, building capacity towards a wider/deeper cross-community network for change, mentored by 1Chi4All Executive Directors and supported/coached by LISC.
