  • Virginia Oviedo

With fond memories of her mother’s community activism and perseverance in overcoming discrimination, Virginia Oviedo’s commitment to giving back began at a young age. As a child, she learned the importance of finding her place to not just fit in but thrive. She believes it may have been a survival technique she used to overcome the prejudice she experienced in school.

  • The Chicagoland Vaccine Partnership

In 2021, the Trust was a lead supporter and participant in the Chicagoland Vaccine Partnership—a coalition of 160+ organizations dedicated to helping communities work together to get more COVID vaccine shots into the arms of Black and Latinx residents. The vaccine partnership boosted vaccination rates in COVID-vulnerable neighborhoods by turning to the people who best know how to reach them—trusted community members, organizers, and leaders.

  • Nuestro Futuro

    Community Leader

As the largest affinity fund in the nation dedicated to Latinx philanthropy, Nuestro Futuro (“Our Future”) has been making tangible impact for nearly 20 years by supporting Chicago-area organizations and programs aimed at improving the quality of life for the Latinx community.

  • Roberto Requejo

Roberto Requejo is the executive director of Elevated Chicago. Requejo is an urban planner and a diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) practitioner. As Executive Director, he has overseen $10M+ in resources for equitable transit-oriented development (ETOD) and has co-led with Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s Office the creation of Chicago’s first ETOD Policy Plan and pilot projects, including affordable housing, small businesses, public art, and grocery stores.
