The Metropolitan Tenants Organization (MTO) will build on existing relationships with UChicago Medicine (UCM) and Lurie Children’s Hospital to expand and increase relationships with medical care providers who assist low-income families of color with children. The project will educate staff of Health care providers about homebased health hazards and the resources and referrals available to mitigate the hazards. The program will work directly with families to assist them in abating health hazards. The project will work to develop long-term policy solutions such as just cause eviction and proactive rental inspections. The project will ensure that community members are participating in making recommendations and creating policies that will lift up the entire community. In particular, the project will look at developing early intervention models aimed at prevention.
