Lugenia Burns Hope Center is at a growth point for its organizing work, where increased capacity can translate into systemic change on issues such as housing and quality schools for its low-income, African-American members. A capacity-building investment from CCT would allow LBHC to strengthen three critical areas: senior organizing, communications, and fundraising. This will enable the organization to more effectively move a justice agenda on the South Side.

The XChange will be a mixed-use, high-rise that will elevate what intentional investment and development looks like in South Shore. Powered by best-in-class technology and built with sustainability in mind, The XChange will meet the unmet demand for quality rentals, desirable amenities, and contemporary residential units. The XChange project aligns with community-driven housing solutions, aiming to catalyze transformative change in South Shore and create a more inclusive, vibrant, and sustainable neighborhood where people work, live, eat, play, earn, and learn. The building will have 65 parking bays, 112 Bike spaces, 112 residential units, and 9,000 sf of retail space. We are proposing a 17-story, 135,940 square-foot tower that stands over 2000' high. The retail will be dedicated to conveniences such as potential medical facilities, flower shops, cafés, and bakeries, as well as other food and beverage establishments.

Central to our proposal is a clear plan for strategy. measurement of progress and sustainability beyond the grant period, ensuring the lasting influence of our efforts. With this support, we aim to make significant strides in not only sustaining our operations but also in bolstering the integrity and inclusivity of media representation in Chicago.
