The John Walt Foundation (JWF) is in the middle of providing summer programming via the JWF Summer Apprentices program. The Summer Apprenticeship supports youth between the ages of 14-24 who are interested in careers within the professional arts industry, providing career readiness opportunities through a series of mentorship, learning, and real-life skills application. JWF is hosting virtual and in-person workshops for JWF Apprentices on topics that include but are not limited to: resume building and job interviewing, artist development and skill building, self-improvement and mental health awareness. Through this program, apprentices have an opportunity to learn from different generations and genres of artists within their community via teaching artist workshops. Apprentices have been utilizing their learning to plan and launch three Teens in the Park (TIP) Fest events (art/music festivals) throughout the year. As a culmination to their Summer Apprenticeship, due to a long-standing partnership between JWF and Lollapalooza, we are offering Apprentices the opportunity to put their learned skills to use by supporting in the preparation of the Lollapalooza festival on August 2nd.

Driven to Inspire (DTI) intends to conduct a series of sporting and engagement activities in the month of August to occupy and build relationships with the community youth of Austin, North Lawndale, Roseland, and Humboldt Park. During the August "break", DTI will hold a basketball tournament (1 event), a bowling/arcade day with dinner (1 event), bookbag giveaways (2 events) and cookouts (2 events) serving a total of 223 kids between the ages of 5 – 20 years old. DTI has experience running these types of events through the combined efforts of its staff as well as through established partnerships with other community actors. DTI has already secured locations for the events and developed necessary partnerships with actors who have run these events for years, but without financing. DTI has a proven methodology to execute the events and thanks to previous funding from CCT, a few successful events already completed. DTI will utilize neighborhood canvassing, social media, and communication with local churches to recruit youth. DTI will also recruit kids active in its current summer programming who are anxious to continue engaging with DTI. DTI will organize and execute the events, recruit and transport youth, feed the youth and purchase any necessary food and equipment to execute the events.

The 5300 Block of Ferdinand sits east of Levin Park. Levin Park has been a high traffic area with increased crime just this year alone. Movie On the Block hopes to serve as a safe space for children and youth to come, meet and engage with one another while also having fun. Hopefully the more children we attract to the Movie On the Block, the less children we will have in the park as possible targets of gun violence.

Future Ties will continue to provide safe space opportunities for the youth during the gap in service from the Chicago Park District until youth return back to school. Since the first gap activation in programs, Future Ties has continued to provide a safe space for the youth. We had a teen kick back that was very successful and well attended by the youth and we have every Friday famly movie night that is also very well attended. Our plan is to continue to offer these opportunities throughout the summer that includes the gap. We are planning another kick back with the youth for the Labor Day weekend. We have Friday Family Movie nights on our calendar through the Labor Day weekend. This funding will definitely help us with the supplies/food we need to continue to support the youth and their families during this time.
