    All Family Active ALFA

    Awarded: Awarded Amount: $5,000

    We are applying for both events, we will have 4 activities every Sunday of August as well as an activity during Labor Day Weekend. We will be sharing valuable information and resources with parents while their children partake in physical activity. All the information will be about how we can recognize and identify any symptoms of violence, bullying and or harassment in children and specifically where they can receive additional support. All this will take place in a Chicago Park District soccer field. We have planned an activity for children ages 8 to 11 and their families, on Saturday and Sunday of Labor Day weekend with this fund we could also open the activity for children ages 12 to 14 and could extend it to every Sunday in the month of August. With the fund, we would extend our activities more days and open to more ages, we expect around 50 to 100 children between each Sunday plus parents and siblings ages 8 to 14 years old. I repeat once again, all children or young people are welcome

    Church of the Good Shepherd

    Awarded: Awarded Amount: $5,000

    In the spirit of collaboration, the funding received under this application will allow us to further enhance the summer experience of youth and emerging adults with whom we engage throughout the year in restorative justice and community activities. It leverages the relationships established between several churches and youth organizations that engage youth in intergenerational activities throughout the year. Funds awarded will utilize the relationship building, creativity and learnings of youth previously engaged and additional ones in the following activities: Participation in an interactive play with post-play spoken word activities and journaling; A community rally which allows all the intergenerational parties from each neighborhood to come together at once, enjoy each other and plan for the coming year.

    Awarded: Awarded Amount: $5,000

    Summer program for youth from 100, 200, and 300 N Pine Ave Blocks. Providing safe and peaceful activities during Labor Day weekend and 8/6/2023 - 8/21/2023 (for youth ages 6-18). Our program with include lunch and a snack. Program focus is providing safe and peaceful activities during the gap time Park Dist activities end and CPS school year begins, Outline of our program we will engage youth in the following activities. 1) Community Awareness 2) Safety & Non Violence 3) How to fill out application for a job A)Interviewing skills B) Resume writing C)Dress for Success. 4) Bike riding days. End of the program meet and greet safe and peaceful Celebration for Youth and there family to know there neighbors.

    Excel Community Development Corporation

    Awarded: Awarded Amount: $5,000

    Excel Community Development Corporation runs a summer camp and summer school program entitled, Hope Excel Reaching the World. This year we are planning to continue our summer school and camp operations until August 21, 2023. During the extended time between August 6-21 we will run a summer school where kids will be taught reading and math concepts. The summer school will be staffed by two lead teachers and two support teachers. We will also run our summer camp concurrently with a focus on sports. Campers will receive instruction from baseball, cheerleading, football, pickleball and tennis coaches.

    Sacred Ground Ministries

    Awarded: Awarded Amount: $5,000

    Sacred Ground is applying for the Safe and Peaceful Communities gap period grant from August 6, 2023 thru August 21, 2023. We are currently hosting our Summer Enrichment Program and we have the capacity to continue our program through the gap period of Aug 6, thru Aug 21, 2023. We are currently serving 30 youth 4 days weekly, 5 hours daily and providing Culinary Arts, swimming, arts & crafts and field trips. All of our culinary arts students completed their Il State Food Safety Handling Certification and receives a stipend.

    Talib Tennis, Inc.

    Awarded: Awarded Amount: $5,000

    Talib Tennis,Inc. offers tennis and chess instruction, counseling in fitness and nutrition, and mentoring to youth on Chicago's South Side. Talib Tennis will hold a two-week long mini-camp at Tanner Elementary School over the August break. The mini-camp will be from Monday - Thursday, from 9:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. We will be able to accommodate between 30 and 40 youth.

    WINDSOR PARK FOUNDATION INC

    Awarded: Awarded Amount: $2,500

    Our proposed grant funding of ($5,000.) is for two and a half weeks (August 6t. through 28th. 2023), program for at risk youths within the South Shore neighborhood. It is entitled "Get out the neighborhood and learn". The agenda of the program to have between 16- and 20-year-old youths taken on two charter bus field trips, to important and informative places within the city of Chicago, as well as historical landmarks. This program is intended to be intellectually stimulating and socially enjoyable. Each trip is scheduled for two and a half hours. Lunch and other necessities will be provided. Each trip will have a minimum of four staff members and maybe some family members as chaperones. The title of this program is "Get out of the neighborhood and learn about your city (Chicago)"

    Alianza Leadership Institute

    Awarded: Awarded Amount: $5,000

    We are applying for gap funding to expand our programming for the Youth Leadership Council. ASE provides leadership trainings to 20 African American &Latino youth(ages 12-18) to empower youth to take on leadership roles, take action on issues they identify &have a voice in community. Goal: Increases civic engagement of youth, a proven component in reducing violence, by creating meaningful opportunities to work together. With August gap funding, youth will meet weekly to plan a course of action to plan for Back-to-School event to share out on their solutions to violence and addressing trauma, hold a Community Peace Circle, and travel to learn from other community or youth groups addressing violence and trauma.
