    ILA Creative Studio

    Awarded: Awarded Amount: $5,600

ILA Creative Studio is an organization whose mission is centered on celebrating, educating and elevating Black artists. For this grant application, we’re proposing to further develop a connectivity platform (BLACC) that we developed in 2021 that helps to bridge the gap of connecting Black artists to resources. Think of it as a digital rolodex that helps the user sort, manage and organize their creative needs. It was developed to stand at the intersection of balance and ease for marginalized creators looking to attain access to resources and opportunities; while simultaneously helping entities diversify their creative pursuits in a functional, equitable fashion. We beta-tested the platform with close to 200 users across 5 different markets. Now, we’re seeking funding to hyper-focus on the Chicagoland area, in an effort to be more intentional on who we are serving. We will use the funding to take what we developed in our beta, to further develop the app into a launch-ready format. This digital resource guide will serve as a way to collaboratively forge connections across the many arts-based organizations and businesses within our city, to ultimately help artists find resources in one centralized location. We know the power that exists when we create opportunities to come together for the greater good of community, and we see BLACC being a leading guide in that plight.
