Our centennial year (May 12, 2015-May 11, 2016 and beyond!) is committed to inspiring more philanthropy—that spirit of good will towards all people that we express through our generous actions to help one another.
We dedicate this milestone to you, to celebrating the work you do by sharing your stories of how you give your time, treasure and talents to make our region vibrant.
With the help of numerous partners, we will document and promote portraits of generosity, compassion and social conscience throughout the year. Join us in redefining our region’s narrative. Visit the StoryCorps StoryBooth at the Chicago Cultural Center to preserve your story of generosity for future generations. Listen to dynamic stories of giving and receiving on Vocalo from emerging storytellers. Tune into CHIRP for inspiring stories of volunteers giving their time and talents to make our region strong. Experience the voice and vision of our region’s youth with the help of Free Spirit Media. Watch out for a documentary from Kurtis Productions exploring the impact of philanthropy in our region. Take a journey with The Moth’s storytellers as they recount moving and unexpected tales of philanthropy on a live stage.
Leading cultural partners have joined the Trust in creating thought-provoking programs, events, and exhibits that will inspire and engage residents to reflect on what it means to be part of a community. Join fellow residents in the city’s own book club and explore dozens of programs as part of One Book, One Chicago with the Chicago Public Library. Hear from some of the most important thinkers in the world during Chicago Humanities Festival as they explore what it means to be a “citizen.” Explore new ideas from a spectrum of thinkers and instigators who will share the ways they are changing the world and making a different at Chicago Ideas Week.
A Century of Stories
For 100 years, people just like you – unstoppable dreamers, generous donors, inspiring leaders – have made amazing things possible in partnership with The Chicago Community Trust. We’re celebrating their stories, to remind ourselves of the very best that a shared commitment to community can achieve.
