Giving season is upon us, and we at The Chicago Community Trust are here to offer you the following three options to support the Chicago region this holiday:

Unity Fund

The Unity Fund serves as a vehicle for addressing our region’s most urgent needs. For over a decade, Unity Fund has leveraged the generosity of donors to help communities weather times of uncertainty. Contributions made to Unity go towards responsive grant making for frontline organizations providing critical services such as workforce development, legal aid, emergency food, clothing, housing, and legal aid. To date, Unity has awarded $15.2 million in grant dollars to more than 240 organizations.

When you support Unity Fund, your donation ensures that individuals and families can receive access to services that will relieve hardship and put them on the path towards stability.

We Rise Together: For An Equitable & Just Recovery

We Rise Together is an accelerator in the economic recovery to help ensure Black and Latinx communities hit hardest by the COVID-19 crisis are not left behind, supporting a stronger region for all. Without adequate resources and a coordinated response, the damage to the Black and Latinx communities—and therefore to the region as a whole—could be irreversible.

Contributions to We Rise Together will focus on key priorities, including spurring the development of neighborhood anchors in communities that have been disinvested, strengthening businesses of color, and increasing employment opportunities. The initiative will provide financial support to solutions that address priorities such as those noted above and support the business practices and policies necessary to sustain results.

The Chicago Fund for Safe & Peaceful Communities

The Chicago Fund exists to create the conditions for violence prevention and reduction focusing in communities disproportionately impacted by gun violence – and supports activities by nonprofit organizations that build community cohesion and promote safety and peace. Donors to this Fund are engaged in larger, long-term efforts to help address the problem of violence prevention and community safety.

The Fund offers rapid-response grant opportunities designed to support community-based actions and activities that make neighborhoods safer. It was created in direct response to the many people and grassroots organizations that are already taking powerful, on-the-ground action in their neighborhoods.
