Wesley Walker is the senior director of community impact for the Growing Household Wealth portfolio at The Chicago Community Trust.
He joined the Trust from his consultancy, WW Strategies LLC, where he was providing assistance in strategic planning, research, community outreach, and community development strategies to nonprofit and governmental agencies.
Before that, Wes was the executive director for Habitat for Humanity Chicago South Suburbs, and was the executive director of Network of Woodlawn, a comprehensive community development initiative formed to address issues of systemic poverty and underinvestment in portions of the Woodlawn community. He has also served as program officer for general programs for Local Initiatives Support Program, where he provided loans and grants to community development corporations to develop affordable housing units throughout the City of Chicago.
Wes spent several years as Executive Director of Northway Community Trust, a Minneapolis-based community development organization which provided grant funding to organizations dedicated to wealth creation and poverty reduction.
Originally from Cleveland and now living in Des Plaines, Illinois, he obtained his bachelor’s degree from Cleveland State University, and his master’s in public administration from American University in D.C.
