Giving

We welcome not only your donations, but also your charitable ideas, inspiration and other resources.  The Will County Community Foundation offers tax-efficient options that help you manage your giving - from defining and focusing your charitable intent to establishing the best vehicle to ensuring that your wishes are implemented most effectively, now and forever.

The Foundation provides individuals, families and organizations a way to pool resources with others from our community, maximizing the impact.  We invite you to join with us to plant the seed of opportunities, access and resources in Will County.  Here are several options which may help you increase the impact of your gifts.

  • Cash Gifts – The simplest method of giving is to send a personal check or make a credit card contribution.

  • Bequests and Retirement Plans – A will provision allows you to make a substantial contribution without diminishing the assets available to you during your life.  Since charitable bequests are deductible from your taxable estate, significant estate tax savings are possible.  Naming a charity as a beneficiary of your retirement plan also avoids income tax when the charity recieves a distribution from the plan.

  • Real and Personal Property -  A residence or other real property may be given as an outright gift, or you may prefer to give your residence, farm or vacation home and retain the right to occupy it for life.  Personal property such as paintings or cars can make excellent gifts.

  • Securities – When you give long-term appreciated securities, not only do you recieve an income tax deduction equal to the market value of the securities, but you also avoid capital gains taxes on the sale of the asset.

You can make a donation to The Will County Community Foundation through our online donation tool.
