Since 1998, the Springboard Foundation has sought to alleviate difficult living conditions in Chicago’s poorest neighborhoods by promoting constructive educational and out-of-school activities for children.
We focus our support on small grass roots not-for-profit organizations that may otherwise have difficulty funding their programs.
One group we support is the JHP Community Center in Chicago’s Albany Park neighborhood. JHP provides alternatives to youth involvement in gangs in an area of diverse cultures. The Center offers martial arts, after school activities including homework, tutoring and the arts, a summer camp, a mentoring program, leadership youth training program, a computer lab and technology training.
Grants range from $5,000-$25,000 and focus on expanding and improving programs, staffing and operational capacity. Additional grants are available to build the operational capacity of Springboard grant recipients.
Through the continuing generosity of our members and outside contributors, the Springboard Foundation has provided more than $2 million in grants to small organizations, allowing them to continue and grow their after-school and summer-school activities.
