Asian Giving Circle

Three Asian-American organizations in Chicago came together in 2002 under the auspices of the Trust to form the Asian Giving Circle.  The Circle was created to highlight challenges facing the Asian-American community and encourage Asian-Americans to support the not-for-profit organizations addressing them.

The Asian-American community in Chicago is incredibly diverse, comprising more than 30 ethnic groups whose members speak literally hundreds of languages and dialects. The Asian-American population in Chicago has grown more than 50 percent since 1999 and now numbers more than 400,000 residents.

These diverse communities have the same needs as other communities, yet nationwide less than one percent of foundation contributions reach them.

Since 2004, the members of the Asian Giving Circle have raised more than $30,000 and awarded grants totaling $40,000.

Among the not-for-profit organizations benefiting from Asian Giving Circle grants are:

  • Asian Human Services
  • Center for Immigrant Resources and Community Arts
  • ZAM’s Hope
