Basic Human Needs

As a leader in Chicago’s philanthropic activity, the Trust’s Basic Human Needs program is dedicated to providing a secure existence to the working poor and those in poverty by working to improve the basic government safety net. The Trust also supports those working to alleviate homelessness and hunger in our community. And the Trust is committed to supporting new programs and projects from social service agencies trying to improve the lives of Chicago’s underserved citizens.

The Basic Human Needs program is currently focusing on the following priorities:

  • Preventing and Ending Homelessness
  • Preventing and Reducing Hunger
  • Protecting the Public Safety Net
