When and why you should contact the Trust depends on the answers to the following questions:
- Is there a specific charitable concern you want to address?
- Do you have an interest in supporting a specific not-for-profit organization, perhaps in perpetuity?
- Do you want to use illiquid assets to fund charitable giving?
- Do you want to create a charitable legacy for yourself or a loved one?
- Are you looking to start a family tradition of philanthropy?
- Do you want to maximize the tax advantages of your charitable giving?
- Do you want to support the Chicago community while minimizing paperwork and administration?
- Do you have a variety of charitable goals, but need help choosing where to focus your resources?
The assets you choose to make available, combined with your charitable goals will help us direct you to the best possible giving vehicles. You may make a gift to the Trust during lifetime or at death by bequest in your estate planning documents. An expert in our Philanthropic Services Department can help you sort through the choices, but in broad strokes, the Trust most often accepts:
- Cash Gifts
- Life Insurance
- Retirement Assets
- Stocks and Securities
- Real Estate
- Bargain Sale Assets
For more information on when and what to give, please contact the Trust’s Director of Gift Planning, Jason Baxendale.
