On Friday, March 11, an earthquake of 8.9 magnitude struck off the northeastern coast of Japan. The tsunami that followed has caused extensive damage and an unknown death toll, and triggered tsunami warnings throughout the Pacific. The Japanese Red Cross has deployed 11 Disaster Response Teams to assess damage, provide first aid and plan the distribution of supplies. The Japanese Red Cross has made no request for international assistance at this time.
If you would like to donate to emergency relief efforts:

- Give to the Japanese American Service Committee, a Trust grant recipient organizing a relief fund
